Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that part of the island of Montreal called the West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar to its significance. It is often believed that it's an island located to the west of Montreal however the West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. However, this isn't the truth. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa the city of Ontario. In her early years she hoped to become the next big thing in her career, but a sudden growth spurt made it impossible. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. The moment I outgrew the size of my male companion, I stopped. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. For Brugel it was because of the advice from her drama teacher in high school who pushed her to take the step she wanted. Her teacher encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. She auditioned and was eventually cast as the leading role for the role in Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. For the last twenty years, Brugel's work been featured on both the small and big screen. Her work gained most fame when she was offered the role as Rita on the award-winning TV show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian actor for Season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
